Double Offset Butterfly Valve BVD01 – High Performance – PTFE Seat
The BVD01 is a double offset butterfly valve with PTFE or soft seat, available from DN 80 to DN 1200. It covers the majority of industrial applications at moderate temperatures, up to +220 °C, at pressures ANSI 150 to 300 and PN 10 to PN 40.
Why double offset?
Single offset shifts the shaft axis relative to the pipe centreline. Double offset adds a second displacement: the shaft is also offset relative to the disc centre.
This double displacement causes the disc to lift off the seat from the very first degrees of rotation. There is no continuous metal-to-PTFE sliding over the full stroke, contact occurs only in the closed position. The seat wears far more slowly than on a single offset design, and actuating torque is reduced.
The BVD01 lip seat goes further: it automatically compensates for temperature and pressure variations. When the pipework expands or pressure fluctuates, the PTFE or RPTFE lip adapts without losing sealing integrity. This is what enables sustained bubble-tight, zero-leakage performance to API 598 and EN 12266-1 over time.
On-site seat replacement for the double offset butterfly valve
The BVD01 is designed so that its seat can be replaced directly on site.
The technician removes the seat segment by undoing its fastening, without touching the disc or shaft. The valve must be isolated and depressurised, but does not need to be removed from the pipework. In practice, this reduces a shutdown of several hours to a matter of tens of minutes depending on the installation.
Technical advantages
- Bidirectional bubble-tight sealing: zero leakage per API 598 and EN 12266-1
- Self-compensating PTFE/RPTFE lip seat: adapts to thermal and pressure variations without adjustment
- On-site seat replacement
- Gland packing adjustment accessible without special tooling
- ISO 5211 top flange: interchangeable actuators without modification
- Fire safety: BS 6755 / API 607 / BS EN ISO 10497
- Design standards: EN 12516 / ISO 5752 Series 20 (EN 558-20) / API 609
Industrial applications
The BVD01 double offset butterfly valve is used wherever the fluid is compatible with a PTFE seat and temperature remains below 220 °C.
High-temperature water and utilities. Industrial hot water, low-pressure steam, cooling water. The PTFE seat withstands these conditions without deformation. WCB body as standard for utility services in thermal power plants or general industrial installations.
Natural gas and light hydrocarbons. Bubble-tight sealing to API 598 and EN 12266-A qualifies the BVD01 for low- to medium-pressure gas networks. CF8M body for mildly corrosive applications.
Chemical and pharmaceutical. CF8M stainless steel body, PTFE or RPTFE seat: clean chemical fluids, light solvents and pharmaceutical liquids flow without contamination or seat attack.
Food and beverage. Stainless steel body and disc, PTFE seat or food-contact certified soft seal. Production circuits, food fluid pumping, CIP cleaning under moderate pressure.
Desalination and marine. Aluminium bronze body resistant to salt corrosion. Desalination, seawater treatment and marine installations. The compact wafer/lug design adapts to space constraints on board.
Other applications: paper industry, power plants on utility circuits, industrial automation on clean fluids.

Double offset butterfly valve
What is the difference between double and triple offset?
The BVD01 double offset butterfly valve uses a PTFE or elastomer seat, versatile, cost-effective, reliable up to 220 °C. The triple offset (BVT01) goes further with metal-to-metal sealing that holds up to 600 °C and beyond, on aggressive fluids or under high pressure. If the process stays below 220 °C and the fluid is PTFE-compatible, the BVD01 is sufficient and less costly to maintain. The BVT01 is justified when these conditions can no longer be met.
Can the seat be replaced without removing the valve from the line?
Yes. The seat segment is removed without touching the disc or shaft. The valve must be isolated and depressurised, but remains in place in the pipework. In practice, this reduces a shutdown of several hours to tens of minutes depending on access. This is one of the selection criteria for the BVD01 on networks with tight shutdown constraints.
Is the BVD01 suitable for food and pharmaceutical applications?
With the right materials, yes. CF8M body and disc, PTFE seat or food-contact certified soft seal. PTFE is chemically inert. For pharmaceutical applications with CIP/SIP cleaning, verify seal compatibility with the detergents used, our engineers can guide you to the right grade.
